St James' Churchyard Annex - Defford

Over the years the graveyard has sadly become quite neglected. The PCC has now formed a working group to take steps to remedy this situation.
If you are able to help in any way with the renovation that is underway it would be greatly appreciated.
Full details of how you can help can be found on the Cemetery Campaign page of this website.

The St James' Church Graveyard Annex is a quiet, tranquil and beautiful location on the edge of the village of Defford, with graves dating back to the turn of the century. As such it is an important village asset.
The headstones from many prominent village families can be seen in the graveyard.
The site is often visited by family members of those buried there - both to tend graves or to dwell for a while on one of the benches for a period of quiet reflection.
The primary purpose of this website is to catalogue the named burial plots in the graveyard - the locations of which can then be found on the detailed layout plans of graveyard shown on the website. Additional details will be added to this website as they become available.
Please note that the information on this website is drawn from historical church records. While every effort is made to ensure this is accurate, inevitably sometimes discrepancies will occur due to problems interpreting information drawn from older documents.
