The St James' Church Graveyard Extension is a quiet, tranquil and beautiful location on the edge of the village of Defford, Worcestershire WR8 9BL, with graves dating back to the turn of the century. As such it is an important village asset.

The headstones from many prominent village families can be seen in the graveyard.

The site is often visited by family members of those buried there - both to tend graves or to dwell for a while on one of the benches for a period of quiet reflection.

This website catalogues the named burial plots in the graveyard - the locations of which can then be found on the detailed layout plans of graveyard shown on the website. Additional details will be added to this website as they become available.

An important and exciting project is currently underway to renovate & rewild the Graveyard Annex - full details of which can be found here.

Please note that the information on this website is drawn from historical church records. While every effort is made to ensure this is accurate, inevitably sometimes discrepancies will occur due to problems interpreting information drawn from older documents.
