Graveyard Restoration

Over the years the graveyard has sadly not had the attention that we would have wished and there is much work to be done to bring the whole area to the standard we all want to see.
Twice a year a group of "Friends of St James Church" have spent time cutting back overgrown vegetation.
Significant work has been undertaken at the western end of the graveyard, where the boundary hedging ha encrouched on the main graveyard. The image to the right shows this work currently underway.
As can be seen from the pictures to the left, several of the yew trees have now died back and need to be replaced. This work has now been planned for the not too distant future.
The Defford Graveyard Cemetery Campaign page shown on this website gives more details of the consderable efforts underway.
